INTERNATIONAL BUGATTI MEETING
Maremma May 23-30 2009
Dear Friends,
The guest of honour, Ettore Bugatti, would undoubtedly have enjoyed the “centenary rally”, as the Bugatti International Meeting was dubbed by all, starting with the location in the Maremma fenland, which is reminiscent of Alsace, where roads wind through gently rolling hills carpeted in vineyards.
119 cars representing virtually the entire production range took part in the rally, which offered an interesting blend of refined savoir-vivre and roads seemingly purpose-designed for the driving style of these cars with their famous horseshoe-shaped radiators.
Representatives of 17 different countries spent a week discovering the pristine nature, local traditions and tasty dishes of the Maremma, and enjoying a hearty welcome and many delightful beauty spots.
Organizers Franco Majno, Costantino Franchi and Valentina Croce from 2fast4you and the Bugatti Club Italia were delighted with the participants’ general satisfaction and expressed their heartfelt thanks to all those that helped make the Bugatti week in the Maremma a truly memorable one.
«As we see things, these meetings should contain certain fundamental ingredients - a delightful setting, with good roads ideal for “old-school” driving, excellent accommodation and the opportunity to taste the best food and wine the area has to offer,” explains Franco Majno. “And what’s more, they had the chance to visit places they could never have visited on their own,” adds Costantino Franchi.
«Our events always include a part dedicated to the history and culture of the local area - comments Valentina Croce - and the Maremma was a unique opportunity for Bugatti enthusiasts to drive their beloved cars through places of unequalled beauty."
It was love at first sight between the Bugatti owners and the Maremma, where spectators flocked to enjoy a sort of open-air museum relating a story dated back a hundred years.
As always, events are only successful if supported by partners sharing the same passion. The Bugatti International Meeting was sponsored by Chopard, the Geneva-based maison renowned for its jewellery and watches, including its collections of clocks and chronometers for the world of driving, and by Metra, Brescian manufacturers of high-tech aluminium sections, including fine quality components for motor vehicles.
Thanks to all the friends who participated, to those who supported us, and to the staff who made this unforgettable event possible.
